Tantra Seven

Please read this note carefully. We've added some new features as of May 6, 2006, so if you're having trouble, the help you need may be here even though it wasn't in the past.

Who can access this material

Access to this material is restricted only to those who are physically present at the Tantra Seven teachings at DMU during the spring term; if you receive this teaching as a DMU extension course, you and your teacher are responsible for making recordings to which you can refer in the future.

What to do if you are teaching this class yourself

Please be aware that if you are teaching this class, you are forbidden by your Lama to give your students copies of this audio. Because of this, it is very important that you or your students arrange to make recordings of the teachings that you give to them, so that they will have something to refer to later. Please don't think it's egotistical to record what you teach - it's all they will have other than their notes and their recollection.

How to register for access to the class

To register for access to the audio here, please visit the registration page (https://www.dmes.org/registrar/newUser.php). You only need to register once. Registration just creates a username and password for the web site - in order to access the material you need to be on the access list. The access list is maintained based on the sign-in sheet - please sign in for every class.

What to do if you registered, but still can't get access

Class Sign-in Sheet

If you did not sign the sign-in sheet at class, you won't be able to get access to the class, even though you are registered and even though you were present in class. So please make sure to sign in. Please contact Venerable Chukyi to correct omissions in your attendance record. If you haven't signed in to any classes at all, you won't even be able to download readings and homeworks, because only people who have attended at least one class are eligible to download readings.

Also, if you did sign in for a class, but it was the most recent class, please be aware that the sign-in sheet is not electronic - someone has to go through it manually and enter the data. This can take up to a week. So if you signed in, but can't get access to the most recent audio, there is a very good chance that the reason for this is simply that the data hasn't been entered yet. We try to put notices about this on the tantra web page.

One problem you may have is that if you only signed in for the very most recent weekend, and haven't signed in for any previous weekend, then you probably aren't going to be able to access anything at all, because your access to the tantra homework and readings is predicated upon you having signed the sign-in sheet at least once.

Windows Users

If you click on the Tantra Seven link below in Internet Explorer and you get a message that says "this page cannot be displayed" it's because Internet Explorer has a bug in its implementation of the security layer that we use to prevent open access to these teachings. You have two choices. My personal recommendation is that you download a copy of Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org). This will take a little while, but you'll have a lot less hassles accessing this web site and other similar sites, and it's got a lot of nice anti-spyware and anti-popup features that you may find enjoyable as you surf the Internet.

If you do not want to have to download Firefox, you can use Explorer (at least in Windows XP). What you need to do is to go to Tools->Network Preferences, click on the Advanced tab, scroll down to the bottom of the list, and click to enable TLS 1.0. After you've done this you should be able to get in without a problem.

If you are running the new Internet Explorer version 7 beta, you don't need to enable TLS 1.0 - it's enabled by default. I'm pretty impressed with IE7 so far; although I don't really recommend installing it if you're not the adventurous type (since it wipes out your IE 6 install), it is one route to go for those who are not faint of heart. Personally I'm not looking back - they've done a nice job, even if the wiki doesn't render quite right yet.

What to do if you don't remember your password or your password doesn't work

If you think you remember your password, but it's not working, please test it by going to the password test page (https://www.dmes.org/registrar/password-test.php). If you don't remember it correctly, you can reset it by going to the password reset page (https://www.dmes.org/registrar/password-reset.php). Please don't ask us to send you your password by email - that's not secure. Likewise, please don't send it to us.

If you remember it correctly, but can't access your class, you probably aren't on the class list. If your email address has changed, please talk to Bets to get help. Please be aware that if you use upper and lower case when you register your password, you need to type your password in the same way when you log in. Your email address must be in lowercase, because that's how it is in the access database. The access database is produced when you sign in during class, so please remember to sign in during class (see the note above about the class attendance list).

Okay, but where are the tantra files?
