Regenesis
Our holy Lama Geshe Michael has envisioned that Diamond Mountain will need a large number of quiet retreat spaces for long meditation retreats within the next few years. Our Lama created the Retreat Cottage class as part of DMU to begin to manifest this vision.
The students and teachers of the class realize that we need to know much more about the land, climate, and energetic forces at Diamond Mountain, how to work with them, and how to catch and store water from the sky at the infrequent times when it pours down and runs away as fast as it comes. Since most of the students and residents here come from much different lands and climates, we feel we will avoid many ignorant land abuses and save thousands of dollars if we get some expert help before we get too far into building structures.
Kathryn Ehrhorn and I, teachers of the Retreat Cottage class, received Board approval to schedule a preliminary visit from Tim Murphy and Ben Haggard who are very well versed in understanding and working with the arid lands of the west. Tim Murphy has lived in the foothills of the Chiricahua Mountains for many years and teams with Ben Haggard of Santa Fe as Regenesis. They work with clients all over the country to help match long term goals of the community with needs and potential of the land and local ecosystems. They would encourage us to grow within our community a team of dedicated and knowledgeable people who can evolve the relationship of the community to our land. "Over time," said Ben Haggard, "the community's outward life becomes more and more a perfect mirror of its inner spiritual practice."
Regenesis will come to Diamond Mountain on April 12, look over the land in the morning, meet with a small core team composed of members of our class and the Board in the afternoon, and would like to get input and share with the community in the evening at the end of our work day. The next morning they will meet again with the core team and depart, after giving us their report. We believe the information they have to give and the questions they will ask and answer will be very valuable for our class and the entire community, so we respectfully ask you to come with your questions, ideas and receptivity.
In loving service,
Allegra Ahlquist
