This web site is a Wiki. A wiki is a web site that can be updated by volunteers using nothing more than a web browser. So if you want to add information here, all you need to do is get an account on the Wiki and learn a few simple tricks.
One key thing to know about wikis is that they are informal. If you make changes to the wiki, anybody who has access can come in and correct what you've done. If you see a problem with the wiki - stale information, a typo, or something like that, and you have an account on the wiki, you are encouraged to fix the problem. You can watch changes to the wiki either by clicking on the Recent changes tab in the navigation box (to the left of this text) or by watching the RSS feed (http://www.dmes.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&feed=rss). Don't worry if you don't know what an RSS feed is; the web page is fine.
Another thing about wikis is that if you think something should be there, it should be there. Don't hesitate to put something up. This isn't the official Diamond Mountain web site - it's the community site - and the goal of this site is to serve the community. That doesn't mean you should put up offensive or irrelevant content, or idle speech, but if your content has to do with helping people to find what they need at DM, it's relevant.
So if at this point you think you want to get started, you need to do two things. First, if you haven't already registered, register at the DM user registry (http://www.dmes.org/registrar). Please type your name in nicely - if your name was Ted Lemon, you would type in Ted Lemon, not ted lemon. Whatever you type in is going to be your DMES wiki username. Please choose a good password. Feel free to write it down and put it in your wallet, but please pick something that's not easy to guess. Best thing is to use the first letter of each word of a phrase, so for example you might use the letters from the beginning of the heart sutra or something.
Anyway, once you've registered, send mail to dmreg@dmes.org explaining who you are and that you need to be able to update the wiki. You need to be someone we know - we aren't handing out access at random.
Once you have access, you can log in - click on the log in button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. (more later)
